12Status is a web application designed exclusively for Washington state residents, that bridges sports fandom with travel rewards through a strategic partnership between the Seattle Seahawks and Delta Air Lines. During the football season a user would receive miles for:
- 1 mile for every passing yard
- 12,000 miles after signing up
- 500 miles for every 12,000 signups
I developed the points aggregation service that processed and calculate miles awards for a user base of approximately 3 million active participants. The service was built to interface directly with the NFL’s proprietary API, enabling real-time statistical tracking and instantaneous points calculation during Seattle Seahawks football games viewable on 12status.com.
To transfer miles over to Delta’s infrastructure after each game, I built a webhook workflow that would automate the uploading of miles to SkyMiles accounts over to Delta server’s. The campaign continued on for many years to promote new Delta SkyMiles memberships.
